Grannie’s got a gun

by Carl Natale on May 1, 2010

Police always can use help fighting crime. They may need new weapons or assistance from the citizenry.

So when I saw this tweet from the @PressHerald, I wondered if they got both:

@PressHerald: Maine State Police say they need more firepower; all troopers are getting AR-15s. http://bit.ly/dqGxWD

Which leads to the story New AR-15s give state police needed firepower and this photo:

In case you’re wondering, that’s Rep. Paulette Beaudoin, D-Biddeford, holding the assault rifle in the front row. She would be the “grannie” I refer to in this headline. I don’t mean any disrespect (she looks very comfortable holding that AR-15).  She is a grandmother after all. But I’m looking to play off the song Janie’s Got a Gun by Aerosmith. Would “Grannie Get Your Gun” be better? I’m looking for word play and rhyme here.

Again, no insult intended.
